96% LOST - Save the Youth of America

There is a spiritual crisis taking place in America. Look at the percentage of Evangelical Christians by generation in America:

(Nearly 80 million young people now under 25 years old)

If I were to tell you we were going into a overseas nation on the missions field where 96% of the people had never accepted Christ as their Saviour, you would say that is a lost or heathen nation. This is the very state of the young people in America, they are lost. Just as we send missionaries overseas to show the love of Christ to lost nations, we must send missionaries to this lost generation in America.

Some people get caught up in the statistic of only 4% of our young people being born again and don't realize that if it were even as high as 10% or 20% of the young people not born again we should be on our knees and reaching them. Just take a look around you and you will notice that America has changed drastically in the last 50 years. We must reach the young people with the Gospel.

Drugs

Half of teens (50%) have tried an illicit drug by the time they finish high school.
Twenty-three percent (23%) of teens know a friend or classmate who has used Ecstasy.
Nationwide, 25.4% of students had been offered, sold, or given an illegal drug by someone on school property during the 12 months preceding the survey.
Marijuana is reported by 23% of teens to be easier to buy than cigarettes or beer.

SEX

10,000 Teenagers a day get infected with a STD, over 3 Million a year, one every eight seconds.
In 2006, adolescents and young adults 13-29 years old accounted for the greatest percentage of new HIV infections (34%) than any other age group.
In the U.S., 7 in 10 women who had sex before age 14, and 6 in 10 of those who had sex before age 15 report having had sex involuntarily.
One in two sexually active youth will contract an STD by age 25.
62% of those under 30 years old in America consider homosexuality acceptable.

Teen Pregnancy & Abortion

Each year, almost 750,000 women aged 15-19 become pregnant.
One third of teen pregnancies will end in abortion.
Over 200,000 teen abortions occur annually.

Pornography

T he average age of exposure to internet pornography is 11 years old
90% of 8-16 year olds have viewed porn online (mostly while doing homework).
65 percent of high school students admit to unsafe, inappropriate, or illegal activities online.
63 percent of teens said they know how to hide what they do online from their parents.

Suicide

Suicide is the third leading cause of death among the youth.

19.3 percent of high school students have seriously considered killing themselves.

14.5 percent of high school students made actual plans for committing suicide.

900,000 youth planned their suicides during an episode of major depression.

High School Dropouts

Almost 1/3 of all high school students will drop out
1.2 million high school students drop out each year
7,000 students every day on average or one every 26 seconds
